Prior to this, we are repeating the afternoon bus trip to The Bell, Aldworth, a perennial gem with the only Heritage Pub Interior in Berkshire. Card payment accepted, but cash preferred. NSE 40th Anniversary Train Tour Saturday 12 September 2026 By Southeastern Overview This special train will run a one off commemorative service across some of the oldest stations on the Southeastern network. Celebrate 40 years of Network SouthEast with a special commemorative rail tour aboard Southeastern's uniquely restored Networker train in the iconic Network SouthEast livery. Beginning and ending at London Victoria, this one-off journey will travel across both Metro and Mainline routes to Ramsgate and Dover, passing some of the oldest stations on the Southeastern Railway network. Southeastern Railway has created a one-of-a-kind Networker train in the iconic Network SouthEast livery, a nostalgic tribute brought to life in partnership with Angel Trains, Wabtec, Network SouthEast Friends and Network Rail. This special train, Unit 465908, proudly bears the name 'Chris Green', honouring one of the railway's most visionary leaders. It was officially unveiled at a special ceremony at Charing Cross in spring 2025, and now it's your chance to experience it for yourself. On 12 September 2026, this unique four-hour journey will cover a wide sweep of the Metro and Mainline network, celebrating the legacy of Network SouthEast and the people who made it such an iconic part of Britain's railway history. Tickets are extremely limited, with just 250 seats available. The train will depart London Victoria at 10.23 and arrive back at London Victoria 14.45. Don't miss your chance to be part of this unique railway celebration. Secure your seat aboard this iconic service and enjoy a memorable journey through railway history. Southeastern Railway will not make any profit from ticket sales. The visit marks several notable milestones, including the locomotive's first-ever appearance at the Severn Valley Railway and the first visit by an Isle of Wight-based locomotive to the line. It will also become only the third member of the Ivatt Class 2 2-6-2 tank family to visit the SVR in preservation. Weekly Wind-Up #2267 2267 ? 24 September 2026 ST. ALBANS CITY The Royston Club, College Road, St Albans. AL1 5PJ We try a new venue in St Albans this year. The Royston club was established in 1936 as the College Club. Following a licensing issue in 1952 it was re-launched, taking the name "Royston" from another nearby street. The club is about a mile from St Albans City station, but buses S1 or 305 stop nearby. See map. In the 2000s the club came close to closure, but was successfully rescued and turned around by a team led by local estate agent Barrie Lloyd, who remains the club's long-serving Secretary. Regularly featured in CAMRA's Good Beer Guide, the club has also won the South Hertfordshire CAMRA Club of the Year on multiple occasions. Up to four cask ales are offered along with a selection of traditional still ciders. A dark beer will be on for us today, but those requiring an even larger beer range may like to note that St Albans beer festival is on today, at the Civic Centre.

Autumn Gala Saturday 26 September and Sunday 27 September 2026 Autumn Gala 2026 Visiting Steam Tram 'Thomas Telford' confirmed! Courtesy of the Telford Steam Railway! Telford Steam Railway Our 2026 Autumn Gala takes place on the 26th and 27th September. This year, we celebrate 75 years of narrow-gauge railway preservation, showcasing the remarkable breadth and diversity of the movement. Taking place over the final weekend of September, the gala also continues our traditional commemoration of the closure of the iconic Lynton and Barnstaple Railway. This year we have two very special and unusual guest engines which, along with our home fleet, represents the wide spectrum that covers narrow gauge heritage. The 'Thomas Telford' steam tram, which was highly commended at this year's Heritage Railway Association Awards makes a rare trip away from the Telford Steam Railway visiting the Southwest for the first time and, Lister Railtruck 11410, formerly a sewage works locomotive, joins us from a private collection in Devon.

There will be regular trains pulled by steam, diesel & electric locomotives. 'Rhoda the Roller' will be in steam and there will be other attractions which will be confirmed closer to the date of the event. Across all three days, an intensive timetable will keep the action moving, giving you plenty of opportunities to explore our beautifully preserved stations, ride behind iconic engines, and take in the stunning autumn scenery along England's longest heritage railway. The whole railway comes alive for the weekend, with museums, heritage displays, and model railways open throughout ? perfect for visitors of all ages. Telford Steam Railway Our 2026 Autumn Gala takes place on the 26th and 27th September. This year, we celebrate 75 years of narrow-gauge railway preservation, showcasing the remarkable breadth and diversity of the movement. Taking place over the final weekend of September, the gala also continues our traditional commemoration of the closure of the iconic Lynton and Barnstaple Railway. This year we have two very special and unusual guest engines which, along with our home fleet, represents the wide spectrum that covers narrow gauge heritage. The 'Thomas Telford' steam tram, which was highly commended at this year's Heritage Railway Association Awards makes a rare trip away from the Telford Steam Railway visiting the Southwest for the first time and, Lister Railtruck 11410, formerly a sewage works locomotive, joins us from a private collection in Devon.
